Arcus Global has been selected by Haringey Council to implement its Built Environment applications for Planning and Building Control, signalling a firm move away from legacy IT systems.

With technology moving at a rapid pace, Haringey Council has opted to move to a cloud-based planning system which enhances flexibility, remote working and improves end-user experience. The new Software as a Service (SaaS) based solution will enable users to access the system on the move as long as a secure internet connection is available. Other benefits include dedicated and fully integrated mobile applications designed specifically to support teams whilst on site. In addition to this, the new system will enable applicants to easily submit online Building Control Applications, including attaching documents and paying fees.

Bob McIver, Head of Building Control at Haringey Council comments: “Moving towards a digital platform will transform the way the council works and provide better tools and solutions for residents. The new customer portal will allow individuals to monitor the progress on their building control application and track the live status once they have created an account.”

“With more organisations adopting a hybrid working approach, it is vital staff can access the data they need at any given time. This new system implemented by Arcus will therefore encourage more efficient and effective ways of working for council staff.”

Commenting on the platform, James Thompson, Business Development Director at Arcus Global adds: “We can help councils transform their strategy, operations and customer experience by combining our public sector domain expertise with our award-winning solutions powered by Salesforce technology.  London councils are complex organisations with unique needs, so it’s important to deliver more than just an out of the  box solution. Working in partnership with Haringey, we are able to offer a low-code platform that customers can easily extend and adapt to meet their own service requirements, whilst offering an improved digital experience to residents and businesses across the borough. We’re excited to be working with such a forward looking council with so many ideas and so much ambition.”

The Council will also benefit from enhanced mobile capabilities. Using Salesforce technology, Arcus’ Built Environment service packages will provide mobile access to secure, relevant data and support staff from any location.

The new system is expected to go live summer 2022 – providing both staff and residents a number of benefits
