AWS Senior Consultant

This role is in our Amazon Web Services (AWS) Division which was the first in Europe to win the AWS Public Sector competency and scored 1000/1000 in its last AWS Managed Service Partner Audit. We have been helping the public sector to use AWS since 2011 and have a reputation for creating innovative but practical solutions at speed.
You will report to our Principal Technologist - Implementation and will work closely with our Architects, Project Managers and Consultants.
What you’ll be doing
Using architectural designs to implement new environments and solutions on AWS
Administering and supporting Linux servers hosted on AWS
Responding to and resolving support calls
Developing new design patterns for common infrastructure requirements
Meeting with clients to assist them with requirements, implementation, etc.
Creating and maintaining articles in our knowledgebase
Assisting Consultants in resolving technical issues
Analysing client infrastructure and planning server migrations
Keeping abreast of new developments involving Linux server technology, AWS and IaaS
Contributing to proposals and reports
What we need from you
Either three years’ experience of building and maintaining Linux / Unix servers on AWS with an AWS Associate level certificate or two years’ experience and an AWS Professional level certificate
At least three years’ systems administration experience on Linux / Unix operating systems with an LPIC 1 certificate
At least a years’ experience of mentoring, coaching and supporting more junior technical colleagues
Experience of working with or being a consultant. including the ability to conduct yourself in a friendly but professional manner on a client site and to listen to, understand and respond helpfully to client requirements
Self-motivated and quick to learn
Able to quickly get up to speed with new technologies. You will need to find ways to make applications work on AWS that use technologies that you have not seen before and you will have to work with colleagues, the Internet and third parties to find and test solutions to problems.
Good problem solving and teamwork skills
Able to break down complex problems into manageable issues.
Ready to experiment with different solutions, iterating quickly in order to overcome obstacles.
Able to ask for help when stuck and willing to assist colleagues so that the team achieves the objective.
Willingness to travel
Although we expect most of your work to be in Cambridge, we take clients all over the UK so you will need to do some business travel which can include overnight stays
