Data Team Lead

This is a technical role, leading a team of specialist ETL data resources and assisting in the migration and deployment of customer data from legacy systems to Arcus’ systems primarily based on the Salesforce platform. You will be leading a small specialist team and using your experience and knowledge to train and coach more junior members of the team and act as an escalation point for technical issues. You will provide a solid example of best practice and record keeping while working with senior technical consultants and system architects to devise the best approach to client situations. This role does include some travel and client visits to provide and gain specialist knowledge.
Coaching and developing skills within your team and onboarding new staff to our way of working
Lead and assist your team in developing tools to automate the repetitive and awkward tasks in the job so that the team can focus on helping customers improve their processes and transform.
Helping customers understand their legacy and target data models,
Analysing customer data to identify quality issues and recommending “quick wins”,
Taking part in project planning exercises, and giving clear and well thought out recommendations for how to approach the data element.
Assisting Technical Consultants with understanding the impact of their customisations on data quality and migration.
Developing target processes for your team of data consultants to follow
Enforcing use of best practice for migration between test and live environments
Managing your own time whilst working within the project constraints
What do you need:
You should have excellent technical skills. Advanced MS Excel or similar is essential. You should be comfortable with concepts of relational databases and have extensive experience working with them.
Experience with data modelling - A working knowledge (or beyond) of data modelling techniques would be a distinct advantage. For example being able to interpret, write and (to the right audience) explain an ERD would help you hit the ground running in this role.
You should expect to be working across several projects simultaneously and be comfortable working to customer deadlines and juggling tasks.
Experience using your choice of tooling ( MS Access, SQL, Jitterbit, Alteryx, Open Refine, Informatica) to extract, transform and load data between systems would be hugely beneficial
Ability to quickly adapt to new situations, different business practices and challenges of working in the public sector
Experience in promotion of projects from dev to test and UAT environments and then on into production. ITIL knowledge or certification preferred.
Experience with and a passion for pushing people to produce their best work and try new things, whilst supporting them and helping them to identify why when things don’t work
A proven ability to plan, organise, prioritise, manage and track numerous concurrent activities without losing track and ensuring accurate documentation is taken at every step.
Business Intelligence & reporting experience - Both the process of developing and displaying performance indicators and tooling e.g. Tableau, Silk, Qlik or the BI tools within AWS such as QuickSight (desirable)
Experience with an object-oriented programming language (in particular Apex), Python or Powershell, git and command line interfaces
The role will include UK wide travel and therefore you must hold a full UK driving licence and have use of your own vehicle
